“Honoré Daumier Award” delivered to Xia Lichuan

Xia Lichuan, a Chinese cartoonist, was awarded with the First “Honoré Daumier Award” on Saturday, April 23rd, at Caen Town Hall. The award was presented by Philippe Duron, Mayor of Caen and Jean Plantu, President of “Cartooning for Peace” for her cartoon on the wearing of burqas.

The jury rewarded Xia for her talent and the work she performs despite the several constraints imposed in her country. The Award was one of the main moments of the First International Meeting of Cartooning for Peace cartoonists, that took place the same weekend at the Mémorial of Caen.
